Pysanky Class - March 18, 2021 - Class will begin at 6 p.m. and end around 9 p.m.

I will teach you the process of creating your own Ukrainian egg (pysanky). You will get an instruction sheet, a set of basic dyes, a kitska tool, beeswax, and a wire to clean your kitska tool with. You will learn the process for creating such works of art as well as the meaning behind some of the symbols. I teach the Christian meaning, however there are meanings from pagan times as well. Pysanky are created by drawing the design on the egg with wax using a candle and kitska (tool), and a series of dipping the egg in dye. In the picture, the egg starts as white, then the first dye is yellow, then orange, red and finally black. The process is complete when you melt the wax off of the egg and finish with a layer or more of varnish. Walla, a beautiful keepsake!
